Job Summary

 

We are seeking a software engineer to lead the development and implementation of a stream processing framework for high-throughput on a GPU platform. This stream processing pipeline is being developed for a next-generation radio telescope called DSA-2000. It will be the most advanced imaging radio telescope, the largest stream processor and most data-intensive science experiment in the world. This pipeline development is part of the ongoing Radio Camera Initiative (RCI), funded by Schmidt Futures, which is enabling the next-generation technology necessary for the DSA-2000, as well as other future radio telescopes.

 

Job Duties

 

• Responsible for software development for the DSA-2000, as part of the RCI.

• Will work in collaboration with the OVRO Director, faculty, staff, and students in a team-based environment.

• Will travel to OVRO, as needed, to collaborate with faculty and engineering staff.

• Other duties as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications

 

• Expertise in C/Objective-C/C++ and Python.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science.

• Three years of professional experience in software development.

• Must possess, and maintain throughout employment, a valid Driver's License.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Experience programming in GPU languages (OpenCL/CUDA/Metal).

• Experience with production software development and maintenance, including Git/GitHub workflows.

• Interest in Physics or Astronomy.
