About the opportunity

The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for a Dark Matter Research Associate/Fellow. The successful applicant will be working in the Astroparticle group (led by Professor Celine Boehm, Head of School) and expected to perform independent research on dark matter astroparticle physics. Topics especially related to cosmology and indirect dark matter detection are preferred, but candidates with other expertise will be considered.

Key responsibilities:

  • participate in a research programme investigating dark matter astroparticle physics
  • demonstrate research excellence
  • assist with grant writing and publishing original work
  • support teaching activities and the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.

About you

We are looking for a Dark Matter Research Associate/Fellow who has:

  • a PhD (or near completion) in Astroparticle Physics or Cosmology
  • the ability to supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • primary research interests in dark matter: from particle physics, cosmology, astrophysics or astronomy
  • proven research excellence in this particular area of physics
  • experience in research record keeping, preparation of research papers and presentation of seminars
  • demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications skills, interacting with a variety of researchers and stakeholders.

The commencement level will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and knowledge.
