The Argelander Institute for Astronomy (AIfA) of Bonn University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in theoretical astrophysics and cosmology starting in the fall 2019 or any time earlier.
The successful candidate has a strong research background in one or more of the following topics: large-scale structure of the Universe, perturbation theory, galaxy redshift surveys, numerical cosmology, galaxy formation, radiative transfer, and the physics of the intergalactic medium. The postdoctoral Fellow is expected to collaborate with the group led by Prof. Cristiano Porciani and conduct research either on the large-scale structure of the Universe (in particular, on the impact of the Euclid mission) or on galaxy formation and cosmic reionization within the Collaborative Research Center "Conditions and impact of star formation".
The appointment is initially for 2 years, with a possibility for further extensions and includes benefits. Salary is paid according to the German civil service scale TV-L E13.
Bonn is a pleasant city on the Rhein river. Home to the United Nation campus and other international institutions, it offers a wide cultural program. The AIfA employs over 100 scientists and its building is also home to the Max Planck Institute for Radioastronomy which hosts 100 additional researchers.
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or related fields. Materials in support of an application (including a CV, publication list, and a brief statement of research interests) should be submitted electronically to email@example.com. Please ensure that three letters of recommendation are sent directly to the above e-mail address. Review of applications will begin on February 6 2019 and continue until the position is filled.
