We Are Delivering Scientific Excellence

The Center for Theoretical Astrophysics (CTA) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking exceptional candidates for multiple postdoctoral positions in computational astrophysics. With a diverse group of over 50 staff, students, and postdocs from across LANL organizations, the CTA encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration across a wide variety of astrophysical topics, and provides a broad expertise and a strongly supportive community. Research areas include supernovae and kilonovae explosion mechanisms and transients, stellar evolution, gamma-ray bursts, accretion, and cosmology. The CTA works with LANL and external collaborators to tie these simulations with ground and satellite-based missions including HAWC, NuSTAR, Swift, LIGO, HET, Raptor, and ZTF. We are also involved in a number of new satellite proposals.

Salary and benefits are highly competitive, with a minimum starting salary of $79,500. Qualified applicants will also be considered for a number of prestigious fellowships. A PhD awarded within the last five years is required.
