Applications are solicited for the Alan Brass Fellowship in Astronomical Instrumentation at Steward Observatory, University of Arizona. This postdoctoral fellowship provides an opportunity for a recent Ph.D. recipient to pursue an ambitious program of astronomical instrument development independently or in collaboration with the students, staff, and faculty of Steward Observatory. All of the observational and computational facilities of the Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory are available to the Fellow, who is encouraged to conduct independent research and to develop collaborations with faculty, staff, and students.
The Brass Fellow will receive an annual stipend of $72,500 per year, as well access to a generous research fund to support their scientific program. This 3-year Fellowship commences in Fall 2022. Candidates must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. in Astronomy or a related field before the start date of the Fellowship.
Submissions should include: 1) cover letter; 2) CV; 3) A list of publications; 4) A statement of current and proposed research and/or instrument development (5-page limit); 5) A statement of activities to advance Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) (see additional instructions at https://www.as.arizona.edu/postdoc-application-dei-instructions, 6) a document containing the names and email addresses of at least three references.
