Research Assistant - 0.75 working time - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen DFG funded position for PhD candidates
under the reserve that funds are granted

Working field: Performing analytical studies and hydrodynamical and magnetohydrodynamical simulations of expanding superbubbles, in particular the Local Bubble. Calculations of the time-dependent evolution of the magnetic field structure for realistic background media, taking into account all physically relevant processes, which have significant influence on the distribution of the magnetic field, including instabilities. Subsequently, the implications for the transport of cosmic rays should be analysed.
Publications in peer-review journals as well as presentations on international conferences are an essential part of the tasks.

Requirements: Successfully completed university degee (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in Physics, Geophysics, Applied Mathematics or comparable disciplines; intensive knowledge of scientific programming and advanced skills in high-level programming languages like FORTRAN, C, Python or equivalents; very good knowledge of basics in astrophysics, electrodynamics and hydrodynamics; good knowledge in German and/or English required; willingness to learn the respective lacking language.

Desiderata: Experience in numerical modelling, specifically in compressible hydrodynamics, knowledge in the physics of the interstellar medium.
