Postdoctoral Fellow in Observational Cosmology and Astrophysics, Stockholm University
Job Summary
Job Description
Postdoctoral openings will be available for outstanding individuals to work in the areas of time domain astronomy and observational cosmology with Prof. Ariel Goobar and/or Prof. Hiranya Peiris, in the rapidly developing area of non-linear cosmic large scale structure inference and statistical data analysis with Dr. Jens Jasche, and in computational multi-messenger astrophysics with Prof. Stephan Rosswog. The central research themes can involve: data analysis related to supernovae and their cosmological applications; strong and weak gravitational lensing; large scale structure data analysis; joint analysis of cosmological probes; early universe cosmology; electromagnetic counterparts of GW sources and their modeling via relativistic hydrodynamics and radiative transfer.
Stockholm University has a world-class research group in cosmology at the Oskar Klein Centre for Cosmoparticle Physics, http://www.okc.albanova.se/, with these particular positions focusing on our involvement in the Zwicky Transient Facility and LSST. A recent development includes a new research environment focusing on the study of the electromagnetic signals from mergers of binary compact objects, GREAT, www.great.cosmoparticle.com.
Postdoctoral associates are welcome to participate in Scientific Programs at Nordita, the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, which bring together groups of leading experts to work on specific topics for extended periods. The postdoctoral associates will also have access to generous research and travel funds, excellent benefits as well as excellent computing facilities.
