Postdoctoral Positions in Observational Cosmology at IFAE Barcelona
Job Summary
Job Description
The High Energy Physics Institute in Barcelona (IFAE) announces the opening of several 2-year postdoctoral positions (with possible extension to a third year) in the Observational Cosmology group. IFAE is a worldwide-recognized center for fundamental research in Particle Physics, Astroparticle Physics and Cosmology, and provides an international, dynamic, and competitive environment for training of young researchers.
The IFAE Observational Cosmology group is presently formed by 4 faculty, 3 postdocs and 5 PhD students, and is a full member of the Dark Energy Survey (DES), the PAU Survey Collaboration, the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), the Euclid Consortium and the Dark Energy Science Collaboration (DESC) of the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) at the Rubin Observatory. The group plays leading roles in the analysis of DES, PAU, and DESI, and is preparing for the data exploitation of the Euclid and LSST/DESC surveys.
The successful candidates are expected to share their efforts between two projects where data are currently available (DES and PAUS) and the analysis preparation of two future surveys (Euclid and LSST/DESC). Expertise in data reduction and data analysis of large galaxy surveys (statistical tools, machine learning, etc.) will be particularly valued.
Interested candidates must have a PhD in Physics or Astronomy on the date of the contract start and provide a letter of interest, a CV and arrange for two letters of reference to be sent by e-mail to [email protected].
IFAE is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace, and we welcome applications from all qualified candidates. Women are particularly encouraged to apply.
The application deadline is December 12th, 2021. For further information, please contact Andreu Font-Ribera ([email protected]), Ramon Miquel ([email protected]) or Cristobal Padilla ([email protected]). General information about IFAE is available at http://www.ifae.es.
