The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Chicago invites applications for a post-doctoral scholar position to work with Prof. Irina Zhuravleva and collaborators on high-energy, extragalactic astrophysics. The astrophysics research includes multi-wavelength observations and theoretical studies of galaxy clusters, groups and giant elliptical galaxies, thermal and non-thermal processes in the intracluster medium, physics of AGN feedback, turbulence and transport processes in the intergalactic plasma, high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy. Applicants interested in other fields of extragalactic astrophysics are also encouraged to apply.
The initial appointment is for two years, with a renewal to a 3rd year contingent on funding and performance. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in astronomy, physics, or related fields at the start of the position. Candidates should preferentially have obtained their Ph.D. within the last 3 years.
Qualified applicants should e-mail to Prof. Zhuravleva at firstname.lastname@example.org including a single PDF containing: a brief cover letter, a full curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and a concise (maximum 3 pages) research statement.
