National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC) invites applications for two faculty positions in observational cosmology and instrumentation starting from Sep. 2022.
The successful candidates are expected to lead science preparation or instrumentation tasks of the Chinese Survey Space Telescope (CSST), which is a 2m-aperture serviceable telescope to start operations in 2024. The CSST will be launched with 5 first-generation instruments including a Survey Camera, a Terahertz Receiver, a Multichannel Imager, an Integral Field Spectrograph, and a Cool Planet Imaging Coronagraph. Its primary task is to carry out a high-resolution large-area multiband imaging and slitless spectroscopy survey covering the wavelength range of 255 nm to 1000 nm. NAOC hosts one of the four CSST Science Centers and the Joint Science Center and is responsible for building the Survey Camera and the Data Reduction System.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or a closely related field by the time of appointment. To apply for the position, send a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and a research statement to Prof. Hu ZHAN ([email protected]). Applicants should also arrange for three reference letters to be sent directly to the same email address. Complete applications should be received by Jan 10, 2022 for full consideration.
