Job Description

The CEA-Paris Saclay is seeking candidates for a 2 year post-doctoral position in the field of large-scale structure, starting next fall.

The successful candidate will be involved in the activities of the Cosmology and Galaxy Evolution group (LCEG) of the Astrophysics department, notably on the theoretical modeling of large-scale structure probes (including galaxy clustering and weak lensing) and the effect of baryons, through either theoretical models or hydrodynamical simulations developed by the group, so as to prepare the scientific exploitation of future galaxy surveys such as Euclid. Besides this work in collaboration with S. Codis, F. Bournaud, H. Aussel and other LCEG members, independent research and leadership will be encouraged. Applicants should have a PhD in physics or astronomy by the time of the appointment. We encourage applications from candidates with strong expertise in theoretical physics and large-scale structure, solid numerical skills in hydrodynamical simulations and/or past experience on the cosmological analysis of galaxy surveys.

The CEA Astrophysics Department plays a leading role in several international observational programs (including Euclid) and in major HPC projects (cosmological and galaxy simulations, code development). The successful applicant will also benefit from the rich scientific life on the campus of Université Paris-Saclay and in the Paris region. The appointment is for 2 years with salary depending on experience (minimal gross salary: 55-60kE). Significant funding for conferences, travels and equipment will be available.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, a CV (max 2 pages), a publication list, a short review of previous works and statement of research interests (max 4 pages) into a single pdf file to [email protected]. Two to three letters of recommendation should also be sent directly to the same address. Applications will be fully considered up to July 4th or until the position is filled. Potential candidates are warmly encouraged to contact us via the same address for any question related to this position.
