Announcement
Job Announcement Text:

The School of Physics at the University of Melbourne invites applications from outstanding early career researchers for an ASTRO-3D Fellowship within the ARC Centre of Excellence for All Sky Astrophysics in 3-Dimensions (ASTRO-3D). This Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work with one or more of the Melbourne ASTRO-3D CIs: Profs Rachel Webster, Stuart Wyithe, and Michele Trenti. The Fellow will be expected to undertake an independent research program in one of the main scientific areas of ASTRO-3D, based at the University of Melbourne: (i) Observational, theoretical or computational studies of the Epoch of Reionization, or (ii) Exploring the first galaxies with JWST. Opportunities to collaborate with researchers at other ASTRO-3D nodes are encouraged.

ASTRO-3D spans six (6) Australian universities, three (3) national infrastructure facilities, and seven (7) international partner institutions. ASTRO-3D combines Australia's leading optical, infrared and radio telescope technologies with sophisticated theoretical simulations and ambitious new data intensive science techniques to build a comprehensive picture of the evolution of matter, the chemical elements, and ionizing radiation in the Universe from the Epoch of Reionization to the present day.

Both ASTRO-3D and the University of Melbourne actively encourage applications from Women and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We value diversity and inclusion and believe employment opportunities must not be limited by socio-economic background, race, religion or gender.

The School of Physics at the University of Melbourne collaborates with researchers around the globe to address some of the most fundamental problems today in astrophysics. The School has an active theoretical astrophysics group and is involved with experiments on the Murchison Widefield Array radio telescope in Western Australia. The School is also actively involved in the LHC at CERN, with substantial expertise in neutrino and ‘Beyond the standard model’ physics and is a partner on the LIGO gravitational wave experiment.

Applications should include a CV, research statement (3 pages), and contact details of three referees.
