Columbia University in the City of New York invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Innovative Cosmology Theory. The Fellow will be initially appointed at the Columbia Astrophysics Laboratory for two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third year, contingent upon review. The expected start date for this position is on or around September 1, 2020. A competitive salary and a research allowance will be offered. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or the equivalent degree in physics, astrophysics, or a related field, a proven track record of research excellence in the field of theoretical cosmology (broadly interpreted), and evidence of future research potential. Demonstrated interest in theoretical investigations beyond the standard Lambda CDM paradigm will be considered a plus, but the primary selection criterion will be the candidate's excellence in research. While the candidate will have access to the ongoing cosmology efforts at Columbia, (s)he is expected to work independently, and to communicate the results of her/his research both orally and in writing.
