Job Description

The Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics and the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics  at the University of California Santa Cruz invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar under the direction of Professor Alexie Leauthaud. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct forefront research with the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) survey (http://desi.lbl.gov) with opportunities to work on a broad range of topics including but not limited to cosmology, clusters, clustering, redshift-space distortions, gravitational lensing, simulations, and cross-correlations. The DESI survey begins collecting data in 2019/2020 making this an excellent time to join this collaboration. Projects that involve collaborations with DESI partners at Stanford, Berkeley, and LBNL will be fostered and encouraged. Applications from candidates with both observational and theoretical backgrounds will be considered. The candidate will join a diverse and vibrant cosmology research program (https://cosmology.sites.ucsc.edu/) and an active group of DESI members (including faculty X. Prochaska and Connie Rockosi). The selected candidate will have access to the Hyades super computer at UCSC. Applicants with relevant experience with data or theory analysis and/or the demonstrated ability to undertake research independently, are strongly encouraged to apply.
