Job Description

The Astrophysics Group at Universidad Andres Bello (UNAB) invites applications for a 2-year postdoctoral research position funded by ALMA-Conicyt programme for the development of Astronomy in Chile. The position will be focused on the study of the chemical loop between galaxies and their local environments using numerical simulations and, especially, on the comparison of simulated chemical patterns with observations.

The Astrophysics Group is a new, dynamic group working in an international research environment. It comprises 10 faculty members and 8-10 postdoctoral researchers. The PhD program opened in 2015 and currently, has 10 PhD students. Members of the group are involved in several international collaborations, including PESSTO, SDSS-V, LSST and the VVV-X survey.

The appointment is for 2 years and includes a salary, funds for travels and computational resources. The starting date of the position is negotiable.

While resident at UNAB, the successful candidate will qualify as a member of the Chilean community with 10% privileged access on all telescopes in Chile. The Astronomy group has access to the National Supercomputer Centre in Chile and to other supercomputer centers via international collaborations. Candidates will be eligible for secondments of the LACEGAL Network (Horizon 2020).
