Job Description

The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics (MSP) at Newcastle University is seeking to recruit a Research Assistant/Associate in stellar astrophysics to an STFC funded project led by Professor Tami Rogers.

The project aims to understand dynamical processes in stellar interiors.  You will use multi-dimensional numerical simulations to understand these processes and help to build one-dimensional prescriptions of them for use in stellar evolution models.  You will work as part of a larger team that includes stellar observational astronomers working in Prof. Conny Aerts’ team at KU Leuven.

You should have a background in stellar astrophysics to include numerical modelling, hydrodynamics and/or stellar evolution. You should good communication skills and work well in a team and will be expected to help advise students and take part in weekly meetings.

We embrace diversity and particularly welcome applications from community members that are under-represented in physics. If you have demonstrable experience in showing a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion then please outline this in your application.
