Postdoctoral position in Observational Extragalactic Astronomy

The Dept of Physics and Astronomy at UC Irvine invites applications for 1-2 postdoc positions to work with Dr. Vivian U (http://sites.uci.edu/vivianu). The successful candidate(s) will be expected to lead projects related to Dr. U's Keck and JWST programs targeting nearby IR galaxies. In addition, the candidate(s) will have input in the direction of ongoing projects within the group, and may explore projects that broadly fit within the topics of supermassive black holes, infrared or active galaxies, and galaxy mergers. Preference may be given to those with prior optical/infrared IFU and/or spectroscopy experience, but all exceptional candidates will be considered.

The position(s) will start between Spring and Fall of 2022 and will initially be for two years, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, contingent upon funding availability and satisfactory annual progress evaluations. The successful applicant should hold a PhD in astronomy, physics, or a related discipline by the start date of the appointment.
