The School of Astronomy and Space Science of Nanjing University was established in March 2011, and its predecessor, the Department of Astronomy, was founded in 1952. It earns the longest history and a high reputation among the astronomy departments in China. Current research activities mainly cover high-energy astrophysics, solar physics, galaxy evolution, extra-solar planets, astronautic dynamics, astrometry and space science. The School owns Near-Infrared Solar Eruption Tracer (ONSET) and Time Domain Observatory (TiDO) at Tibet, and has a contract with IRAM for the access to the NOEMA Interferometer.
The School now invites application for postdoctoral researcher associates to work on the following fields: Field-1: astronomical reference systems, Field-2: exo-planet search, exo-planet formation and dynamics; Field-3: galaxy formation, active galactic nuclei and galactic star formation; Field-4: Gamma-ray bursts, fast radio bursts, supernovae, cosmic rays, and cosmology; Field-5: dense stars, pulsars, pulsar nebulae, supernovae, supernova remnants and hot ISM; Field-6: solar activities, solar magnetic field, multi-wavelength analysis, MHD simulations ; Field-7: space science and technology.
The initial appointment is for 2 years with the possibility to additional 1 year subject to satisfactory performance and available funding. The annual salary is Chinese Yuan 250,000 – 300,000 plus performance reward. The startup research funding is Chinese Yuan 200,000.
