Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Astronomy/Astrophysics

The Department of Physics at Virginia Tech (http://www.phys.vt.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in observational or theoretical astronomy/astrophysics. Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, but exceptional senior candidates will also be considered. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, cosmology, time-domain astrophysics, particle astrophysics, and exoplanets.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field by date of hire and must have postdoctoral experience at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous and well-funded research program; teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels; continue development of scholarly activities and professional capabilities; occasionally travel, for example, to attend professional conferences and present research seminars; and actively participate in department, college, and university governance.
