Job Announcement Text:

We announce a PhD position to study the physics of active regions and flares in the solar chromosphere. This position is connected to the project “Understanding magnetic-field-regulated heating and explosive events in the solar chromosphere”, funded by the European Research Council. This project involves modelling of very high resolution spectropolarimetric observations acquired with the CRISP and CHROMIS instruments at the Swedish 1-m Solar Telescope (SST) and with NASA’s IRIS satellite. The selected candidate will perform radiative transfer calculations and she/he will also utilize advanced data fitting techniques. This position includes a generous yearly travel allowance and it will provide access to state-of-the-art observing and computing facilities.

The application deadline is 24th of April 2018.

To be accepted for the PhD programme, the applicant must have an advanced level (e.g. a Masters) University degree in Astronomy or Physics.
Stockholm University strives to be a workplace free from discrimination, with equal opportunities for all.
