Postdoctoral Research Associate I (Multiple Positions)
Job Summary
Job Description
The Arizona Cosmology Lab (www.azcosmolab.org) at the University of Arizona (UA) Department of Astronomy/Steward Observatory (SO) invites applications for multiple Postdoctoral Research Associate positions to work with Drs Elisabeth Krause, Tim Eifler, and Eduardo Rozo on theoretical and observational projects with cosmological surveys. We are deeply involved in the ongoing DES analysis, in preparing for the early data phase of LSST and DESI, and in optimizing future NASA missions, e.g., WFIRST and the recently selected SPHEREx explorer mission.
We are interested in implementing joint analysis strategies for these different data sets, including information from ongoing and future CMB experiments. Candidates must have completed all requirement for the Ph.D. in Astronomy, Physics, or related field before the appointment start date. In particular, we welcome applicants with research interests in combining multiple cosmological probes and data sets from different surveys.
UA/SO offers a world-class research environment in ground and space-based astrophysics with strong interdisciplinary programs across the Departments of Astronomy, Physics, Planetary Sciences, and the UA Data Science Institute. Our lab has access to high-end, local supercomputing resources including distributed, shared-memory, and GPU architectures. We can access national supercomputing resources through our involvement in DES, LSST, WFIRST. The position includes significant scientific independence to design a visible/unique research profile and comes with a corresponding travel/research budget. We strive to create an inclusive diverse research lab and strongly encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply.
