Job Description

The UConn College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) invites applications for a Research and Teaching Scholar position mentored by Prof. Jonathan Trump. The successful applicant will work on research related to supermassive black hole growth, will teach one course per year in UConn's studio physics sequence, and will support the UConn undergraduate BRIDGE program.

Candidates with research experience and interests in time-domain, spectroscopic, and multiwavelength surveys of (active) galaxies are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates must also demonstrate commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in astrophysics via past actions and/or a detailed plan for future work. Prof. Trump's research group is a member of the SDSS-V, CEERS, and Subaru/PFS collaborations. The growing UConn astrophysics group, in beautiful Storrs CT, has a vibrant and collegial atmosphere and also includes research groups on star formation, the interstellar medium, galaxy evolution, active galactic nuclei, and gravitational-wave astrophysics.

Minimum Qualifications
* Ph.D. in Astrophysics or a closely-related field by start date.
* Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in astrophysics.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in time-domain, spectroscopic, and/or multiwavelength surveys of active galaxies.
* Strong track record of publications.
* Experience with interactive teaching and learning.

The expected start date is summer or fall 2022. The appointment is anticipated to be three years in total, renewed annually contingent on performance.
