LECTURER - THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE, KNOXVILLE

Department of Physics and Astronomy

The Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, intends to hire a full-time (75%) non-tenure-track lecturer, starting August 1, 2019. The lecturer’s responsibilities will include classroom instruction for our general education and service courses, covering both introductory physics and astronomy. This non-tenure-track position is renewable yearly, contingent upon evidence of excellent teaching, demand for instruction, and availability of funds, and comes with full benefits.

Applicants must hold a masters or Ph. D. (preferred) degree in Physics, Astronomy, or related discipline, and are strongly encouraged to submit evidence of effective teaching, such as student and/or peer evaluations of past classroom instruction, recitation lectures and/or laboratory instruction. The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, offers competitive salaries and has a career ladder for non-tenure-track lecturers. After five years of full-time service, lecturers are eligible for promotion to Senior Lecturer; Senior Lecturers may be offered multi-year employment contracts.
