Job Description

The Department of Astronomy at Stockholm University invites applications for a postdoctoral position associated with the research group of Prof. Markus Janson. The group is mainly involved in work relating to extrasolar planetary systems and stellar multiplicity, using high-resolution/high-contrast imaging and spectroscopy, high-precision astrometry, and other methods. Stockholm University has access to a range of facilities including membership in ESO and NOT, which are frequently used within the group. There is also interest in future instruments and facilities such as ERIS, JWST and E-ELT. Programs for which Prof. Janson is PI currently include the ESO Large Program BEAST, which examines the planetary environments of massive stars with SPHERE; the AstraLux M-dwarf multiplicity program which has monitored M-dwarf binaries over 10+ years; and the STARE satellite concept for the astrometric detection of Earth analogues. The department is also involved in the current CHEOPS and the future PLATO missions.

It is expected that the postdoc will contribute to efforts within the group, but there will also be opportunities for the postdoc to develop their own lines of research. Appointment is for 2+1 years. The position offers a competitive salary, and generous benefits. Stockholm University strives to be a workplace free from discrimination and with equal opportunities for all.
