Job Description

Williams College invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor to teach Astronomy within the department of Physics and Astronomy, to begin Fall 2024.

 

The teaching load will be 2-2. The teaching assignment will consist of two 100-level non-majors Astronomy courses, and two other upper-level electives to be determined in conversation with the candidate. We provide mentoring in teaching and research for visiting faculty as well as some support for research. There will also be opportunities to engage in research projects with students. Futhermore, Williams offers faculty participation in the college's professional development program "First3", along with support through the newly established Rice Center for Teaching. We are particularly interested in attracting and welcoming candidates from under-represented groups as well as individuals who have experience with diverse undergraduate student populations. 

 

Qualifications

Your application should include a cover letter, a vita, three letters of reference, a short (1-2 page) teaching statement, and a short statement of research interests. Semi-final round interviews with the search committee will be held via video conference in late February, with a campus visit shortly thereafter. We aim to complete the search by the end of March.
