The Department of Astronomy at the University of Virginia invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with Prof. Shane Davis on radiation magnetohydrodynamic simulations of astrophysical accretion disks and winds.
The postdoctoral research associate will participate in the Disk and Wind Network, a collaboration between UVA, UNLV, IAS, the Flatiron Inst., and GSFC to study coupled accretion disks and winds in a variety of astrophysical sources. The candidate will be based in Charlottesville, VA but will travel to collaborating institutions, including the possibility of extended stays at the IAS and the Flatiron Institute to facilitate close collaboration with Prof. Jim Stone (IAS) and Dr. Yan-Fei Jiang (Flatiron Inst.).
QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. degree in astronomy, physics, or a related field by the starting date of the appointment is required. Computational astrophysics experience is preferred.
