Successful applicants will work mainly with one of the faculty members, Yong Shi, Bin Luo, Yanmei Chen, or Zhi-Yu Zhang, on observational studies of the physics and evolution of galaxies and their central supermassive black holes.

Host institution

The School of Astronomy and Space Science at Nanjing University (https://astronomy.nju.edu.cn/EN/index.html) is one of the most prestigious Astronomy Schools/Departments in China. It is a full member of SDSS-V. It has accesses to the IRAM 30-m and NOEMA telescopes via a MoU with IRAM, and the CFHT and P200 telescopes via the China TAP program.

Research description

Yong Shi (yong@nju.edu.cn): research duties will involve studies of nearby galaxies at multiple wavelengths as offered by SDSS-V, MUSE, ANU-2.3m, Palomar 200 inch and VLA, and preparations of CSST sciences.

Bin Luo (bluo@nju.edu.cn): research duties will involve X-ray and multiwavelength studies of AGN/quasar physics and cosmic evolution, utilizing data in deep Chandra and XMM-Newton surveys, targeted X-ray and optical/NIR spectroscopic observations, SDSS-V, and archives. See selected publications at https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/user/libraries/5vEPlYIPQp-MBJEo913Bow .
