Applications are invited for one or more ETH Zwicky Prize Fellowships to be awarded in 2018. Zwicky Fellows are expected to lead an independent research program of their own devising. There is no restriction on field, although it is expected that the selected Fellow(s) in 2018 will generally be working in the general area of extragalactic research. The primary consideration in selection is research excellence with a clear potential for developing a successful research career.
The Fellowships are for three years, although extensions may be possible thereafter up to a maximum of five years. Zwicky Fellowships are generously supported with research funds. The initial salary is between 86,300 and 95,000 CHF (approximately = USD), depending on experience. The starting date is flexible but should preferably not be after October 2018.
Switzerland is a full member of ESO and ESA, and has access to their observing facilities. Zwicky Fellows also have access to high performance supercomputing clusters at the Swiss National Supercomputing Center.
Applications consisting of a single PDF file containing a CV (max 3 pages), publication list (unlimited pages), and descriptions of past research (max 2 pages) and proposed research (max 3 pages) should be submitted via AcademicJobsOnline, https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/9959, and three letters of reference should also be submitted through the same portal.
All applicants for the Zwicky Fellowship will automatically be considered for other postdoctoral research positions (Job Register ads 25053 and 25055) unless they specifically ask not to be, and need not submit separate applications for them.
