Postdoctoral position in the field of high angular resolution astronomy/star formation

UCD invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in the School of Physics (Level 1 or Level 2 depending on experience) to work primarily in the area of optical interferometry. This project is funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and will involve the use of optical interferometric data (e.g. VLTI on the ESO Very Large Telescope (VLT)). The data pool obtained will also serve to develop a statistical imaging reconstruction method for geo-stationary satellite imaging.

The successful candidate will be part of an international group studying the physics of protoplanetary disks, magnetospheric accretion, MHD winds, jets and outflows, high-mass young stellar objects, as well as planet formation. S/he will be expected to play a full part in the academic life of the school. The successful candidate is expected to perform observational/computational research which complements the existing astrophysics research activities of the group. The successful candidate is expected to supervise graduate students at M.Sc. and Ph.D. level.
