PhD student position in astronomy

Applications are invited for a PhD student position at Tuorla observatory, University of Turku. The position is filled for two years starting from Sept 1, 2018.  

The PhD student is expected to do studies and research in the field of theoretical high-energy astrophysics, in particular, on the physics of accreting black holes, under supervision of Prof. Juri Poutanen and Dr. Alexandra Veledina. The student is also expected to act as an assistant on physics and astronomy courses.    
 
Candidates applying for the position should have a Master degree in physics or astronomy or a related field by the start of the appointment. The successful candidate will also have to apply for the right to pursue PhD studies at the University of Turku to the Doctoral Programme in Physical and Chemical Sciences by 23 March 2018.

The starting salary is about 2200€/month. There will be a four-month trial period in the contract.
