Job Description

The Institute of Astronomy at National Tsing Hua University invites applicants in all areas of astronomy and astrophysics for a tenure-track faculty position at any level. Successful applicants should be able to develop competitive research programs and have the potential to be recognized internationally for leadership in their field. They will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Research and teaching experience beyond Ph.D. are preferred. 

Research at NTHU/IoA includes theoretical and observational studies of high-energy astrophysics, gravitational waves, galactic archaeology, galaxy clusters, cosmology, and star and planet formation. IoA faculty observe with Chandra, XMM, Fermi, NuSTAR, HST, Subaru, Spitzer, SMA, JCMT and ALMA; run simulations of stellar evolution, supernovae, galaxy evolution and galaxy cluster physics; and are involved in surveys including HyperSuprimeCam, DESI, AKARI, the KAGRA gravitational wave observatory, ALMA-IMF, JCMT BISTRO and Transient, and CFHT SPIRou. Instrumentation projects include the Compton Spectrometer and Imager (COSI) in collaboration with UCB/SSL and an exoplanet transit network. IoA has recently established a new Center for Informatics and Computation in Astronomy (CICA), equipped with powerful computational facilities and postdoc hiring opportunities.
