Job Description

The Department of Physics at the University of Vermont (UVM) invites applications for a full-time Lecturer at .75 FTE for astronomy and introductory physics courses, to start in the spring semester of 2019 through Academic Year 2019-20. We seek a dedicated educator with demonstrated effectiveness in science education at the undergraduate level. Ideal candidates would be familiar with recent advances in physics and astronomy education. Successful applicants will be able to teach introductory astronomy, introductory physics, and upper-division astrophysics courses in support of the astronomy minor and astrophysics concentration of physics major.

Candidates with expertise in astrophysics or astrophysics instruction are of particular interest, but exceptional candidates with expertise in any area of physics would be considered. A Ph.D. in physics, astrophysics, or a related field is expected. The Department is housed in the first phase of a $104M STEM complex with new teaching and research facilities, and will partially occupy the second phase with new classrooms and offices in summer 2019. Part of the second project is a TEAL classroom for primary use by the Department.
