Job Description

The Institute for Astronomy at the School of Physics, Zhejiang University welcomes applications for several postdoc positions. Applicants in any of the following theoretical, observational and computational astrophysics fields will be considered, including theoretical and numerical cosmology, theoretical and numerical galaxy formation, feedback modeling from active galactic nuclei, evolution of intergalactic medium from the epoch of reionization to the present, interstellar medium and star formation, high-energy astrophysics, planetary science. The institute for Astronomy in the school of physics is expanding significantly, with current research activities covering accretion disk physics, hydrodynamic and N-body simulations of galaxy formation and intergalactic medium, exoplanets and others. Successful applicants are expected to spend 50% of working time by collaboration with Professors Renyue Cen, Xi Kang, Xinwu Cao, Beibei Liu, Miao Li, and Go Ogiya. Interested applicants should have recently completed their PhD in astronomy and astrophysics or related fields. The appointment is for two or three years (negotiable) and may be renewed for additional three years, depending on performance and funding situation. Internationally competitive compensation is provided, commensurate with qualifications, with further receiving housing subsidies. Successful applicants are normally expected to start at Zhejiang University no later than September 1, 2023.
