The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a new faculty member in astrophysics. This tenure-stream position will be at the Assistant Professor level, starting on or after September 1, 2018, subject to budgetary approval.

We are seeking candidates who will complement current research strengths in astrophysical surveys, theoretical cosmology, and extragalactic astronomy. We are particularly interested in candidates with the ability to teach courses throughout our physics and astronomy curriculum and with expertise in survey astronomy, but we will consider all candidates with can build on current areas of research. The department is a member of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope Corporation and is a participant in the Atacama Cosmology Telescope and Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument projects.
