The newly formed astrophysics group in Bar-Ilan University invites highly-qualified candidates to apply for several post-doctoral positions. We are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in GR-MHD simulations and / or radiative transfer simulations, however exceptional candidates with background in high-energy astrophysics are welcomed to apply as well. The selected candidate(s) will lead and participate in a joint effort of designing novel radiative transfer algorithms and implementing them within dynamical codes, in the study of emission from accreting objects such as AGNs and XRBs as well as the formation and properties of relativistic jets in GRBs.
The positions are initially for two years, with the possibility of extension. The nominal starting date will be September 1, 2019, but an earlier or later start is negotiable. Applicants must have (or have fulfilled all the requirements for) a PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, or equivalent by the time the contract starts. Strong programming skills are an advantage.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, list of publications, and a statement explaining research interests and qualifications, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent directly. All materials and inquiries should be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications that are complete by Dec. 3, 2018 will receive full consideration.
