A postdoc position in observational astronomy is available at the Department of Physics, KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The position will involve collaboration with members of the Astronomy Department at Stockholm University. The departments at KTH and Stockholm University are both a part of the Oskar Klein Centre (OKC, http://www.okc.albanova.se) and located in the same building. The OKC provides a stimulating research environment with a large community working on different types of astronomical transients
The first year of the position will primarily involve analysis and interpretation of HST observations of SN 1987A. There may also be a possibility to work on JWST observations. The research during the 2nd year is more flexible within the fields of SNe, SNRs and high-energy astrophysics in general, depending on the interests of the candidate. The successful candidate will be encouraged to take part in the supervision of master students and/or PhD students.
Applicants should hold (or soon hold) a PhD in astrophysics, preferably obtained within three years of the application deadline. The preferred starting date is around the beginning of September 2022. Full details including instructions for how to apply are available at the link below.
