Postdoctoral Scholar - Center for Integrative Planetary Science (CIPS)

 

The Center for Integrative Planetary Sciences (CIPS) at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in any area of planetary science, starting in the fall of 2018. The position is fulltime and renewable for up three years, contingent on performance and funding.

 

Current faculty of CIPS include Jill Banfield, Kristie Boering, Bruce Buffett, Eugene Chiang, Imke de Pater, William Dietrich, Courtney Dressing, James Graham, Raymond Jeanloz, Paul Kalas, Michael Manga, Philip Marcus, Burkhard Militzer, and Mark Richards. The successful candidate will have overlapping research interests with these faculty members. Current research areas span astronomical observations of the solar system, Martian geodynamics and geomicrobiology, planetary interiors, planetary atmospheres, planet formation theory, protoplanetary disks, and extrasolar planets. Special attention will be paid to candidates with broad interests and expertise who can bridge Berkeley's Earth and Planetary Science Department and the Astronomy Department.

Basic qualifications: At the time of application, the basic minimum qualification is the completion of all PhD degree requirements except the dissertation.

 

Additional Required Qualifications (by start date):

A PhD or equivalent degree in astrophysics, geophysics, planetary science, physics or related fields is required by the start date.

 

A demonstrated track record of published papers.
