ATA is seeking applicants to serve as an Astronomical Research Scientist for the Advanced Electro-Optical and Infrared (EOIR) Sensors Program and will be an integral member of a joint Government and contractor team that operates in a very dynamic environment. The successful candidate must possess at least ten (10) years of experience in advanced electro-optical telescopes and sensors.
Essential Functions:
The duties will include scientific research and development for several state-of-the-art electro-optical systems focused at the Space Situational Awareness (SSA) mission area.
Ability to provide technical guidance and lead a team of engineers and scientists
Required Education and Experience
Graduate degree in Engineering/Scientific (e.g. Astronomy). Discipline from an accredited four-year university.
Experience in design, fabrication, operations and testing of telescopes and Electro-Optical Infrared (EOIR) Sensors.
Experience with systems engineering of advanced electro-optic (EO) and infrared (IR) sensor systems.
Active Department of Defense Security Clearance.
Preferred Education and Experience
Doctorate degree in Engineering/Scientific (e.g. Astronomy) Discipline from an accredited four-year university is preferred.
Current access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs are desired.
Experience with the Systems Engineering techniques and applications implemented on Department of Defense and National Systems.
