China-CONICYT Postdoctoral Fellowship 2017

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT) of Chile are inviting applicants for post-doctoral fellowships in observational, theoretical, and/or computational astrophysics. The official announcement of this opportunity will be made at the CONICYT website (www.conicyt.cl/astronomia) and duplicated at www.cassaca.org. The duration of the fellowship is for 1 to 2 years in a host institution in Chile (depending on the available funds), with an option to extend the fellowship for another year.

The program is open to applicants who will have obtained their PhD in astronomy, physics or a related discipline on or before 1st of October 2017. Preferential considerations will be given to those applicants with proposed research activities involving collaborations between the Chinese and Chilean astronomy communities. We offer an attractive remuneration package including a competitive salary, research fund and financial support for health insurance and relocation expenses from outside of Chile.


During their stay in Chile, fellows will be eligible to apply for observing time as part of the Chilean scientific community, having guaranteed access to 10% of the time in the numerous facilities such as ALMA and the VLT.
