Job Description
Kalmbach Media is currently seeking a Senior Editor for Astronomy Magazine, the world's leading title on the subject, and to work in partnership with its sister title, Discover Magazine. These award-winning national science brands are based in our Waukesha office. The Senior Editor will be an experienced editor/writer who knows the science of astronomy and is a self-starter, team player, and energetic person.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produces a significant quantity of the magazine and special issues in a creative, timely manner
- Produces substantial digital content for Astronomy and Discover's websites
- Produces creative ideas and help to oversee production of science ecommerce products
- A good communicator with other editors
- A knowledge base for less experienced editors; willing to share experience and techniques with colleagues
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- A BS degree in physics, astronomy, journalism, or English
- 5 to 7 years of experience working on print or digital media
- Experience and knowledge of astronomy and interest in related sciences
- An analytical approach to thinking and problem solving
