Job Description

The University of Haifa (UH) and Tel-Aviv University (TAU) invite applications for several joint postdoctoral positions. Candidates from all fields of Astronomy & Astrophysics are encouraged to apply. Experience with telescope instrumentation and operations, data acquisition, image processing, and time-series analysis is most relevant to this call. Candidates with a strong background in the data sciences are particularly encouraged to apply, as are those with a strong background in the physics of active galactic nuclei, astrophysical flows, and photoionized plasma.

The successful applicants will be offered a competitive scholarship, relocation expenses, computer and observing facilities, and travel funds, and will be encouraged to pursue independent research. They will be expected to contribute to, and broaden ongoing research at the aforementioned institutions, and work primarily with Dr. Shai Kaspi (TAU) and Prof. Doron Chelouche (UH), as well as with the other postdocs in the group on topics related to galaxies and active galactic nuclei over a wide range of scales: from the innermost regions around accreting supermassive black holes, and out to circum-galactic scales. For enquiries about the positions please contact Prof. Doron Chelouche ([email protected]) and/or Dr. Shai Kaspi ([email protected]).

Applicants should email a description of research achievements and future research plans, a curriculum vitae with a list of publications, and arrange for three letters of reference to be emailed to Prof. Doron Chelouche at [email protected] by Feb. 1st. Consideration of applications will commence thereafter and will continue until the positions are filled. Starting date for the positions is negotiable, and can be immediate. Applicants should have a Ph.D. by the anticipated starting date.
