Job Description
Steward Observatory at the University of Arizona seeks to fill the position of a Postdoctoral Research Associate starting in the fall of 2018. The selected candidate will work in detector development and galaxy evolution working with Prof. Erika Hamden in setting up a new lab and group at the University of Arizona. The applicant will have a leading role in current and new projects. Applicants will also participate in writing proposals for new ground and space based instruments. Both instrument and observing focused applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. This will be a three year assignment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Developing UV EMCCD detector technology through an ongoing collaboration with JPL.
-Development, fabrication, and testing of other detector types
-Data analysis of results from the FIREBall-2 UV balloon spectrograph experiment
-Extragalactic science focused on observations of the circumgalactic medium of moderate to high redshift galaxies.
-Additional duties as assigned.
