The Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Utah invites applications for a postdoctoral position with Professor Daniel Wik in the area of X-ray observations of galaxy clusters. Research will include data from the NuSTAR, Chandra, and XMM-Newton observatories and will support preparation for the upcoming XRISM mission. Applicants with experience developing customized data analysis procedures/software are especially encouraged to apply.
The Department contains about 10 astronomy faculty, with many postdocs and grad students in a diverse research environment; applicants will have the opportunity to mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Salt Lake City is a large metropolitan area renowned for its proximity to numerous state and national parks, with a diversity of recreational and cultural options.
The initial appointment will be for two years, with an additional year contingent on funding and performance.
