Assistant Professor – Physics Department

The Physics Department of Lafayette College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting in academic year 2020-21. We are particularly seeking candidates in astronomy or astrophysics, although candidates in other fields of physics are invited to apply, and applications with interdisciplinary connections are encouraged.

Candidates should have a demonstrated enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching and should be able to teach broadly in astronomy and physics in both classroom and laboratory environments at all levels of the curriculum. They should be able to communicate effectively with undergraduates having a variety of interests, backgrounds and career aspirations. The successful candidate will be able to develop and maintain a vigorous research program in astronomy or a related field that can engage undergraduates and enriches the research opportunities available for our students.
