Postdoctoral Research Position in Gamma-Ray Astrophysics
Job Summary
Job Description
We invite applications for a postdoctoral research position in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Clemson University. The successful applicant will work with our faculty, Marco Ajello, Dieter Hartmann, Mark Leising, and Lih-Sin The, and our collaborators, on simulations in preparation for future mission proposals in MeV astronomy. We are working on projects such as AMEGO, eASTROGAM, and LOX, and seek to perform end-to-end simulations of sources, source populations, backgrounds, detectors, and data analyses in order to provide realistic assessments of mission science capabilities. Up to 50% of the successful applicant’s research time may be spent on independent research. Applicants whose research interests significantly overlap with our current efforts in nuclear and gamma-ray astrophysics are especially encouraged to apply.
This appointment can begin any time on or before 1 July 2019, and requires the completion of a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field. Applicants should submit a statement of research interests and curriculum vitae, and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent. Applications are to be submitted at the following link https://apply.interfolio.com/59469. Review of applications will begin 15 February 2019 and continue until the position is filled.
Questions about the position or applying should be directed to Mark Leising ([email protected].)
