The Position

We are looking for software developers to work with the ALMA Taiwan team at the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA) in collaboration with the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) on the development of the radio astronomy data analysis software called ‘Common Astronomy Software Applications’ (CASA).

The development sub-projects at ASIAA include

  • Interactive webapp
  • Image processing and visualisation dashboards
  • Qt-based cross-platform data sharing system
  • Radio telescope image database query and analysis service
  • Toolkits and core libraries for astronomical data analysis
  • High Performance Computing (HPC)

Required Education

Applicants can be of any nationality, and must have obtained their BS, BSc, BEng or equivalent degree in Information Technology related fields. For applicants who do not hold citizenship of the Republic of China, an MS, MSc, MEng equivalent or higher academic degree is mandatory.

Work Experience

Applicants with practical programming experience are preferable.

Skills and Expertise Requirements

  • Teamwork skills and responsibility
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Familiar with Linux / Unix development environment
  • Network socket knowledge or development experience
  • Front-end skills (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) or HPC

Optional Requirements

  • Server side skills
  • Docker & Any CI/CD experience
  • Qt experience
  • Robust C/C++ experience
  • Good understanding of algorithm and data structure
