Job Description

The Department of Physics (https://sciences.ucf.edu/physics/) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure earning lecturer position, anticipated to start in August 2020. This position is renewable annually, with the possibility of a summer teaching assignment.

We seek candidates to teach large-enrollment sections of introductory astronomy and physics courses for a variety of majors as well as upper-division undergraduate courses in physics and astronomy. The successful applicant is expected to demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching. Familiarity with online/blended instructional methods and/or digital teaching and learning tools is desirable. Lecturers in the Department typically teach three courses per semester in the Fall and Spring terms and have some service assignment.

The Department of Physics has 52 full-time faculty members, offers B.S., B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, and is housed in a state-of-the-art research building. UCF is a leading metropolitan university designated as a highest research activity institution, with a diverse student body of over 69,000 students. UCF has also been recently designated a Hispanic Serving Institution by the Department of Education. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy, or a closely related discipline,from an accredited institution and previous teaching experience at the university level.
