CSIRO Postdoctoral Fellowship in Low-frequency radio polarimetry
Job Summary
Job Description
•Exciting opportunity to participate in ground-breaking projects in the Australian radio astronomy community
•Be immersed in cutting edge, world-class broadband radio polarimetry research
•Join the team & carry out innovative & impactful research!
CSIRO Postdoctoral Fellows provide opportunities to scientists and engineers, who have completed their doctorate and have less than three years relevant postdoctoral work experience. These fellowships will help launch their careers, provide experience that will enhance their career prospects, and facilitate the recruitment and development of potential leaders for CSIRO.
The Fellow will join the rapidly growing and diverse ATNF Science group based in Perth, Western Australia, and will work with Dr George Heald and his team on novel aspects of broadband radio polarimetry. The Fellow will take a leading role in the calibration, scientific analysis, and publication of new survey observations with the MWA and ASKAP. Considering the recent expansion of the MWA, and the ongoing ASKAP Early Science phase, the Fellow will be at the forefront of modern radio polarimetry surveys leading into the era of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA).
To be successful you will need:
•A doctorate (or will shortly satisfy the requirements of a PhD) in a relevant discipline area, such as Physics or Astrophysics
•Experience with observational radio interferometry, including familiarity with the associated techniques and software tools.
•Demonstrated skills with python and/or other relevant programming languages.
•Demonstrated research strength in the area of radio continuum and/or polarization surveys.
