Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position working with Prof. W.N. Brandt and collaborators. The successful applicant will conduct observational studies of cosmic X-ray surveys and active galaxies using data from Chandra, XMM-Newton, NuSTAR, Swift, SDSS, wide-field photometric surveys, and other forefront facilities.

Research duties will involve the analysis of survey and active-galaxy imaging/spectral/variability data, the publication of scientific results, and the planning/implementation of new observing programs. A Ph.D. is required, and experience with cosmic X-ray survey and active-galaxy research would be an advantage. Information about the Department can be found at astro.psu.edu. Penn State has a significant community of surveys and active-galaxy researchers. It also has strong connections to Chandra, Swift, SDSS, the Hobby-Eberly Telescope, and LSST.
