The College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University, Bloomington, invites applications for the inaugural cohort of its STEM Inclusive Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. The College is committed to building and supporting a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community of students and scholars. This new program is a partnership between the College and STEM departments to increase opportunities for hiring postdoctoral fellows.

These fellowships will enable postdoctoral researchers to grow their scholarly profiles, undertake academic work in science, math, or statistics fields in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University in Bloomington, and strengthen the research environment at the University with diverse perspectives. The cohort from the IU College STEM Inclusive Postdoctoral Fellowship program will interface with the postdoctoral fellows from Center for Research in Race and Ethnicity in Society (CRRES) as part of a larger supportive intellectual community of scholars.

We seek researchers with a Ph. D. in a STEM discipline who are interested in joining a Principal Investigator’s research group or labs in any of the various College STEM Departments: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, Mathematics, Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, Physics, Psychological & Brain Sciences, Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, or Statistics.

A successful applicant in Astronomy will have access to observing time on the WIYN 3.5-m and 0.9-m telescopes at Kitt Peak, including access to the NEID high-precision radial velocity spectrometer and other instrumentation. In addition, IU has excellent information technology infrastructure including supercomputer capability, and massive and rapid access data storage systems.

Successful postdoc fellows will be expected to:

· fulfill the responsibilities of the sponsoring PI’s research group or lab as well as

· lead a small research project, including following all applicable university rules regarding matters such as intellectual property, data management, and safety; interacting productively with collaborators; and contributing positively to a diverse College community.

Ph.D. is required at time of appointment. H-1B sponsorship is not available for this position.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, beginning September 1, 2022. The anticipated starting date for the inaugural fellowship will be either Fall 2023 or Spring 2024. Minimum salary of $62,000 per year, two years with possible extension plus $3000 in professional development funds.
